World History and Marine Biology Classes - Cullman AL - Coming this Fall
Hello! I know homeschoolers start plans for next year early so here is the information about the classes I will be teaching in Cullman this year.
OVERVIEW
CLASS 1: Exploring Creation with Marine Biology by Apologia
CLASS 2: Exploring World History by The Notgrass Company.
Both classes will begin August 20. A parent meeting will be held in the scout room on July 23 at 1pm.
Tuition and registration forms will be due that day. Coming to the meeting does not obligate you to either class.
WHERE I have been given approval to meet in the scout room downstairs in the Ruehl Building, 601 3rd Ave. S.E., across from St. John's Church in downtown Cullman. It is a beautiful room already set up as a classroom.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Exploring World History- Monday 12:30-2:00pm Tuition $125 per semester+ books and one time $20 copy/supply fee. The three-book set can be purchased from www.notgrass.com or through Amazon or other used book supplier. I never buy new! There is a literature package available as well but you might already have many of them as they are mostly classics.
This course is worth three high school credits- 1 history, 1 English, 1 Bible.
Here is some information about the course copied from the website...
Exploring World History is a high school world history curriculum combining world history, world literature, and Bible. It helps high school students gain a fuller understanding of the past as they read the history narrative, read classic literature, complete writing assignments, and study what the Bible says about issues and ideas in world history. Exploring World History provides historical overview lessons along with focused lessons on key events, concepts, and people. It also includes surveys of daily life and culture. The Bible study lessons allow students to concentrate one day a week on the spiritual implications of what they have been studying.
Exploring Creation with Marine Biology- Monday- 2:45-4:00pm-dissection days extended by 1/2 hour. Tuition $125 per semester + books, lab equipment fee approx. $30-$35, one time copy/supply fee $20. Book can be purchased at www.apologia.com or other sources as well. The lab fee will be for slides, dissection specimens and other equipment. This will be determined by the number of students that sign up and how many lab groups we will have. With this class I hope to take a trip to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in Gulf Shores during the Fall or Spring. Details to come!
This course is worth 1 HS science credit.

I break tuition payments up to make it easier for everyone. The first half of the first semester is due the day of the parent meeting. The second half is due November 12. Monthly payments can be arranged if needed. A similar schedule will be set for the second semester payments.

There is a co-op in Somerville for grades pre-k through 12. The way the co-op works is all the parents work together to teach and assist with the classes. I just wanted to let everyone know about it, and I will be teaching chemistry next year. I know chemistry can be a bit intimidating to do own your own, so if you are looking for a place to take chemistry come join us. For more info about the co-op go to http://crossroadschristianacademy.us/?page_id=7.
It is called the Enrollment Exclusion Form, it is not posted on the website. If you need it just let us know and we will mail a completed signed form to you.
This may be an odd question, but my daughter is a high school junior this year and thinking about ordering her class ring. She would like to include the school colors and school mascot on her ring, but we don't know what that is. Since she has not participated in any sports with our school, it's never come up. If anyone knows this information, could they please post it.
I have 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade spelling available, 3rd grade grammar/language, 3rd-5th grade science (astronomy by apologia), 2nd grade math available and a few dyslexia training courses available for sale, reasonable price, if anyone's interested.
A couple of things about the books I have. I copied pages out of the math book so the pages are perforated and torn out, but placed back in page order and bound with a rubber band. Test booklet is with it fully bound. The Easy Grammar for 3rd grade is also what is taught in fourth grade so it can be used for both 3rd and 4th grade, which I did and it worked fantastically!!
