WHCS Beta Club 2010-2011
The National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. The motto of The National Beta Club is "Let Us Lead By Serving Others." This motto, more than simply a catchy phrase, states the philosophy upon which The National Beta Club is based. Service to others is indeed one of the most important characteristics of Beta Club membership. Opportunities to serve are found in every school and community situation, whether large or small-urban, suburban or rural. There are needs that could and should be addressed by Beta members in every school and community.

Are you a home-educating 9th-12th grader looking for opportunities to work alongside other kids your age to serve the community? Do you enjoy the camaraderie of working toward a common goal? We hope you will consider joining us in this service project organization.
We are a relatively new Club, just 4 years old, but growing and learning together. Some of our Club projects have included working with the Green Team to clean up Aldridge Creek in south Huntsville; serenading and entertaining the residents at two local Nursing homes; Food and goods drive to support the Rose of Sharon Thrift Store and Soup Kitchen on N. Memorial Parkway in Huntsville; Sending cards to wounded U.S military servicemembers in stateside hospitals; and collecting items to donate to an Orphanage in Cullman, AL.
We meet once a month for regular meetings (second Monday of each month at Creative Learning Connection, Madison Blvd, Madison, AL. Time: 10 -12 noon) and then for Club Service Projects as needed. First year Betas pay $30 this includes a one-time fee of $15 sent to the National Beta Club which covers the membership pins, cards, certificates, a subscription to the Beta Journal, and a gold diploma seal for graduates, and local annual dues of $15.00.
Membership for the 2010-2011 school year is open until 31 August. All applications and fees must be submitted by this date.
